Managing Director, MCIPR
With particular expertise in creative campaigns and multi-channel communications strategies, Kursha is a former trade journalist who turned to hi-tech PR and then in-house marketing as European Marcomms Director for award-winning software firm Synon. Since establishing Mexia Communications in 2006, Kursha has significantly grown Mexia’s client base across the meetings and events sector, including venues, convention bureaux and event technology companies.
Kursha speaks French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch and is a regular speaker at numerous meetings industry events including International Confex, the Meetings Show, AIPC, ICCA chapter events and more. A graduate of modern languages from Heriot-Watt University, Kursha holds the Professional Diploma in Marketing from the CIM and is editor of Mexia’s award-winning Events World Blog.
Vikki Carley is Editorial Consultant at Mexia and works on a variety of client projects in the international meetings and events sector. Vikki is an accomplished journalist and PR professional having worked for over twelve years in senior writing and production roles for a number of B2B and consumer titles, in addition to over three years’ experience in senior PR roles.
Vikki joined the Mexia team after many years of working with Mexia in her capacity as Deputy Editor across two meetings industry titles: Conference News and Conference and Meetings World (CMW) and their respective websites. Vikki’s role involved sourcing and writing stories to keep the meetings industry up-to-date on all the latest news, producing timely, creative and informative features on worldwide destinations and business travel, mentoring, managing and motivating a team of three and overseeing the production, design and publication of the monthly titles.
Vikki has a keen eye for a news story, knows how to come up with creative ideas and how to make them happen. Her other abilities include; copy writing, copy editing, integrated marketing, social media and communications, corporate events, travel, business travel, brand reputation and recognition and relationship building.
Vikki lives in Surrey. She is a keen runner, cyclist and horse rider in her spare time. She also volunteers for the Surrey Care Trust as a STEPS mentor, helping disadvantaged young people to stay in school, come out with a qualification and on the right path to achieving a career.
Account Manager, ACIPR
Helena Adkins originally joined Mexia as part of our graduate programme. Having demonstrated her great organisational skills, creative flair and talent for digital communications, Helena quickly became an invaluable member of the Mexia team and is now Account Manager looking after a range of venue and technology clients at Mexia. With a passion for writing, Helena studied Creative Writing and English at the University of Plymouth and leverages her flair for the literary to create great content for press releases, features and blogs for her range of venue, catering and technology clients at Mexia. An associate member of the CIPR, Helena’s studies included journalism and social media modules, while her work experience includes hospitality and B2B marketing roles. Helena loves walks in the countryside with her dog Wilf, reading and travel.Close
With a degree in Sport Journalism and over three years’ experience working in motorsport, automotive and B2B PR, which has whetted his appetite for working in the events sector, Jim – a Henley-on-Thames native – joined our award-winning line-up in Spring 2017 as Account Manager.
With strong editorial skills and significant Account Management experience, Jim has hit the ground running at Mexia, working on a number of accounts from venues to event tech companies to raise the profile of our clients across the international meetings sector.
With a degree in media and journalism and experience in lifestyle journalism, Taryn brings new ideas and a fresh approach, having joined Mexia on our Graduate training programme. With a keen interest in fashion and strong social media skills, Taryn has quickly demonstrated her ability to spot a media opportunity to secure excellent coverage for clients in both trade and national press. Taryn combines creative flair and strong writing ability with a natural ability to connect with media, opening new opportunities for clients.Close
Eveleen has over 23 years of experience in PR and marketing and further ten years in journalism. Eveleen joined the team at Mexia in 2016, bringing a wealth of experience in media, marketing and PR.
After training as a journalist and working in news and features for over 10 years, Eveleen moved into PR, gaining experience across a broad spectrum of sectors including Blue Chip press office roles, public sector, lifestyle, education, travel and B2B. She has also run her own PR consultancy, Buzzword PR, which later merged with an agency specialising in consumer travel and lifestyle which has helped her to understand the demands of a growing business.
Eveleen works on a range of clients at Mexia, including Lord’s Cricket Ground, leading food services company Harbour & Jones, world-class theatre Sadler’s Wells and The International Centre, Telford.Close
Head of Digital
Matthew is a vastly experienced digital marketer with experience across a host of industries, with companies of all sizes and at all stages of their development. Having held senior roles for a number of digital agencies he has worked on digital campaigns for big four accountancy firms, leading UK pet food manufacturers, household names within the insurance industry and international publishers. Matthew brings to Mexia his knowledge of search engine optimisation, paid advertising across all channels, social media and web analytics.
In his spare time Matthew is a keen sportsman, enjoying golf, cricket, tennis, cycling running and white water rafting. This balances out his love for dining out.
Consultant Account Director, MCIPR
Sarah has more than 20 years’ experience of developing public relations campaigns for organisations both large and small, within the public and private sector, in the UK, Continental Europe and the USA.
During her career with leading PR agencies, she has delivered national public relations campaigns for organisations including Associated British Ports, Broadbandchoices, Denplan, Dixons, Environment Agency, Federation Against Software Theft, Forrester Research, Logitech, Mirago, SunGard, Thorn, Toshiba, UK Transplant, WinScribe and WRAP.
Sarah is an expert at taking complex subjects and technologies and formulating PR strategies that bring those subjects to life with the media. Maximising her clients’ return on investment through quality media coverage has always been Sarah’s sweet spot. She is also a perfectionist when it comes to establishing strong relationships and processes that deliver excellent results and exceed expectations.
Consultant Account Director, MCIPR
Avril is a seasoned PR professional with over 20 years of experience across a broad range of B2B clients. In the meetings and events sector, Avril has worked with leading event branding company Icon for over two years, launching their fabric-frame® system into the highly competitive signage/exhibition market and handling the PR for the company’s MBO and its recent acquisition of MEI, one of the UK’s leading event production companies.
With combined experience of running in-house marketing departments and managing agency PR accounts for global clients, Avril has built expert knowledge across the services, manufacturing and software sectors and has excellent rapport with trade journalists across the board.
