Social media fever in the UK is still hotting up, eager to catch up with our anglophile counterparts across the Pond.  But there is a real danger of diving in without any real understanding of the culture(s) within social media channels and, worse still, without a clear strategy and plan as to how this fits with your marketing effort.  Jumping on the bandwagon with random content for fear of being left behind is the biggest pitfall facing B2B social media marketing.  (more…)

CentreCharge Mobile creates a buzz at BCA conference

 Delegates visiting this year’s annual BCA conference in Canary Wharf have been dazzled by CentreCharge’s new mobile application, demonstrated on the Apple i-Pad and other mobile devices.  The i-Pad in particular opened up a world of possibilities, as delegates from as far afield as Dubai and Mexico commented on the huge versatility of the tool in a business centre environment. ABPCO unveils new website as first step to new era

ABPCO has taken its first step in a ‘new era’ for the association with the launch of a new website.  With a fresh, new look and feel and easier access for members, the new site marks the beginning of a new initiative to ramp up ABPCO’s industry presence with a package of measures to be unveiled in the coming months.  The new site, created by Benchmark Communications, is available at www.abpco.org. ABPCO appoints Mexia Comms to run PR campaign

We are delighted to announce that we have been appointed by ABPCO (Association of British Professional Conference Organisers) to run its PR campaign in the meetings and events trade sector.  The appointment forms part of a wider initiative to broaden the remit of ABPCO, raise awareness of the association as the UK’s primary professional body representing individual PCOs and expand its membership base. Social media for B2B – surely not?

Mention social media in a B2B context and you are sure to see a few frowns or raised eyebrows at least.  My presentation at the QEII Conference Centre on Friday started with what has become a common reaction – skepticism.  Once we get into things, though, the delegate reactions seem to evolve from cynicism to curiosity and finally a Eureka moment as they realise the huge potential of social media tools.  Helped along by Erik Qualman’s social media revolution clip too, of course.
